RACE REPORT

Even the Malaysian scorching sun couldn’t stop the speed of Sebastian. His RB7 started from pole position to finish in front of all of the rivals again.

“The start was crucial,” said Sebastian. “For the first stint it was a good thing to happen, as I could pull away lap by lap. The entire race was quite different to what we saw two weeks ago – it was a lot closer and there were more pit stops due to the tyres. It wasn't an easy race, but I'm very pleased with today's result. I love what I do and don't think I could be happier at this stage.”

It hadn’t been an easy weekend for Sebastian. He never be able to drive the car to the rhythm on this track and couldn’t get even one top time from Friday’s practice to qualifying.

“This is a completely different track with different characteristics and different demands on the tyres and the cars. Australia is history. We have got that one in the bag and a lot of points, but we have got to leave that behind us and focus on what is going on here.”

“It was a challenging weekend until qualifying today. I was happy with the car, but we never really got into a rhythm.”

Such his style could bring a better result. Sebastian made a perfect attack in qualifying and claimed pole position beating McLarens with a small margin. His crying out described how important the pole position is.

“It was very close in the end with the McLaren guys,” said him. “So I'm happy to get pole. Big compliments to the guys in the team - especially those working on KERS, they did a lot of work since Australia. If we wouldn't have had it today, we wouldn't be sitting here now.”

Sebastian proved that on Sunday with pole-to-finish. Mark tried to bounce back from third grid but he had to give it up and tolerate the mortifying result because of KERS failure.

“It was a tough race today,” said Mark. “It wasn't a good start out of the box and we had a failure with the KERS and it was tough to clear people when I didn't have KERS. It wasn't our day today and I was disappointed not to get on the podium.”

Next opportunity will come in only a week in Shanghai. Both Sebastian and Mark will never be a slave to the past and go flat out to another victory.
